Gabrielle Bates is an Australian-born multi-media artist. A first class honors graduate from Sydney College of the Arts, her art practice embraces painting,  video and sculptural forms to explore and tell stories about patterns in human behavior.

Producing and exhibiting since 1991, Gabrielle’s work has been acquired for public and private collections in Australia, UK, USA and Malaysia. She has also received a number of awards, grants and an international residency placement at Rimbun Dahan Centre for Contemporary Art, Kuala Lumpur.

A committee member of Melbourne’s 69 Smith Street Gallery since 2005, Gabrielle is also responsible for the inception and coordination of About Face for the Australian Cancer Research Foundation and the 2006 Ellen Mileo Contemporary Art Prize.
